What did the British Soldiers Wear and Why
You can tell if the British Regular is a Grenadier (shown on top picture) by their much noticeable hat, which is made from bear fur and adds on to the intimidating and ferocious look that they're trying to give off along with the red coloring suit. The red is picked as their colors for multiple reasons. One is already mentioned, for intimidation. Other reasons are that the bright color allows them to tell the difference between their rival and each other. Also, the battlefields during that time
were smoky and confusing and red was a bold color that stood out so they knew who and who not to shoot. There were other various uniforms that the British Soldiers have (shown on bottom picture). The Grenadiers got their name because
they used to throw grenades before the Revolutionary War was going on in the battlefield and their hat was helpful to them to sling their musket over and throw their grenade and not hit his hat, which would have blown them up.
